I goofed off
Yes, you read correctly. I goofed off. I recently took a break from social media to take a 10 day retreat to gain clarity and center myself for my upcoming work projects.
The funny thing is, when I booked this time off, I envisioned myself being inspired by nature and getting my creative juices flowing. What happened instead was the total opposite. I went for hikes in the forest, climbed some rocks, and even removed my shoes to wade through an icy stream. It was so warm that I took off my jacket and had picnics in the sun.
To try to spark my creativity, I visited art exhibits, art galleries, art studios, and even spoke with artists themselves. At some point I realized it just wasn’t going to happen. The more I was trying to force my creativity to flow, the more divine timing and the universe told me this wasn’t the right time. Instead, I needed this time to relax and unwind without placing any pressure on myself to create.
Once my retreat was over and I let go of my expectations to create, inspiration came to me just as I was dozing off to sleep one night. It’s funny how we think that everything has to go according to plan and we have to work hard to achieve our goals. The more loosely I hold my plans and goals, the more inspiration I have to be creative.
Would you be willing to place your plans and goals onto the back burner and simply trust the universe? Would you be humble enough to trust in divine timing rather than your own schedule? Would you be willing to let go of your expectations and let inspiration guide you? Why not give it a try?
The only goal that I’ve set for myself for the upcoming months is to let go of all expectations and to see what the universe brings my way. I’m looking forward to an exciting journey. How about you? Would you like to join me?
I welcome you to leave comments about your own creative journey and I will be sure to give you an update in my next newsletter. Happy creating!
With love and gratitude
